Last night World of Beer had their first Beatles trivia night. I was very excited and Pete and I attended. I had always wanted to attend a trivia night but never had and was unfamiliar with how they worked. When I saw this advertised I thought, “perfect, what better subject for me than The Beatles.” They handed out 6 small sheets of paper. There were six rounds with 4 questions each round. There were chances on every question to up the odds of your answers to either 2, 4, 6, or 8 times. First you had to name your team., I chose “Dig It.” There ended up being 23 teams with up to eight people on each team. I was on my own, Pete does not know anything about The Beatles.

The first four rounds were easy for me. I felt good. Then two questions came up that I was unsure of. Where was their first concert in America and where was their last concert in America. I knew the first was on the east coast and. my guess was Washington DC. Same with the last concert, I was mixing up The Stones in San Francisco with The Beatles. A very nice man sitting at the table next to us came over and affirmed the first answer and said the last was indeed Candlestick Park in San Francisco. He said he was obsessed with The Beatles and I asked why he wasn’t playing. He was on a time constraint. I appreciate his help. Anyway after three rounds I was tied for third place.

With each round the questions got harder and harder. Some I knew right away, others I was stumped and guessed. Next tally I moved to 9th place. I was upset to say the least. Example of questions; “what was the name of the captain in Yellow Submarine?” ; From left to right name the order of each Beatle on the cover of Rubber Soul? and how many people are on the cover of Abbey Road? I got them all wrong, my answers were all guesses, Captain Jack, Ringo, George, John and Paul and four people on the cover of Abbey Road. The correct answers were “old Fred,” George, John, Ringo, and Paul, and there were 8 people on the cover of Abbey Road.

At the end I ended up in 7th place. I was disappointed but it was pointed out to me that it wasn’t bad considering there were 23 teams and I was on my own.
