What do emails and patient portals have in common? I hate them both!
Emails – Unfortunately I have three different email addresses; one from the beginning of the internet, one for when I had my garden consulting business, both on AOL. I have my current and most relevant email address in gmail. My Facebook email is the original. I’m not on Facebook anymore but when I go to delete I like to see what people are saying, I never comment. I don’t want anyone to get back to me. I have some important accounts in the second one. I’m slowly changing them to my gmail account. I would like to have just the one, but I don’t know how to close the others, (I’m sure it’s not hard, but I don’t want to take the time).
The problem for me is that I’m getting too many emails. I hate the fact that I have to check all three every day, go through them, then empty spam and trash folders. It’s too time consuming and very overwhelming for me. I hear some people have hundreds of emails not opened and that would totally freak me out. I do unsubscribe quite a bit, but there’s always more. I get a lot of stores, Amazon, sale alerts, Xfinity, Netflix, AARP, all of my physicians, credit cards (the two I have). I get emails from the two communities in N. Carolina where the house and property are. HGTV (I always enter the Dream Home Giveaway, Smart Home Giveaway, and Urban Home Giveaway). Speaking of sweepstakes, I also receive emails from Wheel of Fortune; Zillow, because I’m always looking at homes in NY near my granddaughter. Concert emaiIs because I want to see who is coming around me. I’m still receiving emails rom Adopt a Pet because I like to look at the dogs they have for adoption.
Patient Portals – I find these extremely frustrating. A few of my doctors use the same portal so I have to set up different accounts; of course this requires passwords. Every little thing is in these portals, I’m constantly being notified and it’s driving me crazy. Want to make an appointment; through the portal, want to talk to my doctor; through the portal;, get a new prescription or refill; through the portal, pay your. bill; through the portal. That’s another thing, emails telling me how much I owe. What happened to sending me a bill? I go in the portal hoping to see a statement for the amount owed and there is none, just the amount. Another one, says click here for your statement, I click, no statement. I’m not paying a bill without a statement! This stresses me out because I always pay my bills on time.
News flash, Immigrants aren’t stealing our jobs, technology is!
While I’m at it, I’ll complain about text alerts too. The worst offenders are doctor’s. Constant texts of upcoming appointments, messages in your portal and wanting you to check in through a text. I got one yesterday reminding me of an appointment I have in August! I know you can opt out but I do like to be reminded of upcoming appointments, only once, not three or four times. I also hate the group emails, (Pete’s family constantly has one going) I turned off the notifications because the constant replies from 15 people drive me nuts. I don’t know how to get off of sale alerts besides deleting them. I’ve signed up for texts just so I can get a sale price.
That’s it, I’m done with my bitch session for today.
