How far does freedom of speech go? It turns out that it goes very far, in fact it seems that there is no limit at which you can use it. Its been used to spread lies, misinformation, and outlandish conspiracy theories. The worst example is that “freedom of speech” was used to start an insurrection against our government.
Speaking locally now, and the reason I’m writing this post is that there is a man, I won’t mention his name, although it is well known, driving around and setting up signs wherever he wants. His signs say “Fuck Joe Biden,” and there is a big penis drawn on the sign. I found this out on the app, “Nextdoor.” Since it is basically across the street from where I live, in an upscale shopping center, I had to check it out. Lo and behold, there it was. I’m not going to post a picture of it. Multiple people have notified the police and were told there is nothing that can be done about it, that it’s “freedom of speech”. This man is well known for this in Henrico County and has done it before. Once the cops came and he took it down and when they left, he put it back up. The police didn’t return.
I am soooo mad, I can’t believe this is legal. My understanding is that you can say what you want on your own property, but not on public or private land. When it comes to the words used and the picture, that alone should be illegal. Buses of school children pass every day. I also read he has a Utube channel and does this just to get people’s reactions and put them on his channel, another attention seeker.
Why are books being banned, yet this type of offensive, disrespectful, and vulgar display is allowed??????
