I’m scared….so much is happening in our country and throughout the world. Some observations that are causing my fear.
- There are men in our country that are becoming authoritarian in their leadership by:
- Banning books; deciding what can and cannot be taught in schools
- Stopping teachers from teaching the history of slavery, what they call “Critical race theory.” There is no theory, it is all facts! Maybe by teaching how cruel ancestors were, we might have a more compassionate future with our children.
- Going to the amendments in our constitution to enforce “their rights,” gun control, freedom of speech, while infringing on citizens rights. Meanwhile ignoring other amendments that don’t suit them
- Always citing “freedom of speech” for their lies, yet there’s no “freedom of speech” when it comes to books.
- Ignoring that the constitution cites a separation between religion and politics ; yet taking away women’s rights by banning abortions and now the abortion pill is in the hands of the supreme court.
- The proliferation of lies being told and believed is out of control
- The growth of technology, AI, (Artificial Intelligence) is growing faster than any true facts can be presented
- Our government does not listen to the citizens to pass laws that affect us all.
- Our government is run by lobbyists who give the most money to our easily bought, (corrupt politicians) to further their cause.
Now the men, all in the name of power that are wreaking terror throughout the world
- Putin waging war on Ukraine, destroying lives cities, and families, all so he can add to his authoritarian regime.
- Same thing happening in Syria, Bashar al-Assad, attacking and killing his own people just so he can stay in power
- North Korea, Kim Jong Un, supressing his people and leading his country with lies.
- Now add to the list Sudan: Two generals destroying their country and innocent lives by fighting to see who will be the leader.
Commonalities for everything I’ve listed is: Lies, suppressing information and taking away peoples rights. This all leads to the erosion of democracy, and unfortunately I’m scared that this is the direction we are taking as a country.
