Political Correctness

This is now being called “Cancel Culture” because everyone, and I mean everyone, on social media has an opinion. A recent study, (not saying where or whom), found that 80% of Americans feel that it has gone to far. I just found another poll, A Rasmussen poll, (I don’t know what that is) found that 71% of Americans think political correctness is a problem. Once again I find new instances that were always acceptable to no longer be, such as:

Mr. Potato Head, really? Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head weren’t good enough? Who are the people requesting the change? I would like to know who complained about a children’s toy? Did the company take it upon themselves to change the sexual identity before someone complained? Am I the only one who thinks this is too much?

Dr. Seuss books; two books were taken out of circulation. One because an Asian was depicted with slits for eyes and having chopsticks. The other showing an African in a grass skirt and barefoot and shirtless.

We already know Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam have been disarmed. I can’t tell you how this has scarred me from my youth, was I traumatized watching them shoot their guns and Daffy Duck’s beak get split in two? I think not! What about the Roadrunner and poor Wile E. Coyote? That was violent too!

I don’t know where we should draw the line or if there is a line to be drawn. Is it political? I’m not sure, is it the liberals, progressives, or conservatives? All of them blame the others, (what else is new).

I do think that we all need to stop being so serious and get a sense of humor. We all knew Archie Bunker was a racist, homophobe amongst many other stereotypes, but we laughed anyway.
