Ringo and Friends

The other night Ringo and Friends at the Ryman Auditorium was on TV. Ringo just put out a country album. This is no surprise if you had read about his background. He always loved country music. It was a fun show with lots of musicians. Some I knew and some I didn’t.

Everyone knows I love a wailing guitar and there were plenty. It opened with Ringo and Jack White. I loved Johnny Strings, saw him once before and I always love Sheryl Crow. She takes part in so many collaborations with all the greats. There were taped commentaries with Dolly Parton and Paul McCartney.

One word I would use to describe Ringo is fun. Right from the beginning in the movie, A Hard Days Night, and throughout his career. He seems to always put out joy.

Years ago I saw him in concert with his Allstar Band at Radio City Music Hall. My friend Shelly and I took a limo down and had 4th row seats! The first time I saw Sheila E. I knew her from Prince. She is fantastic. Tom Waite was also part of the lineup. The concert was fun! He exudes FUN! He’s also brilliant to come up with touring with a rotating roster of musicians. All stars on their own.
