Tool Box for a Little Girl

For Christmas last year my son bought some tools for toddlers. He thought that since he would be redoing his kitchen that my granddaughter could help with her own tools. They came with a tool belt which she didn’t want to wear. So I figured that I would add it to items I would look for when shopping, either new or at used sales. I did come across one at a consignment sale. As you can see it was grey with Orchard Farm on it. I showed it to my granddaughter and asked her what color would she like me to paint it. No surprise here, Pink.

First I sanded it and wiped it with a damp cloth. I went to Michael’s to pick out a pink. At the time I liked the shade I had picked. Once I put on the first coat, I thought it looked like Pepto Bismol pink. For the next two coats I mixed it with white to get a softer pink. I decided to do the handle in purple with a final coat in purple sparkles. I was going to do her name the same purple with top coat of purple sparkles.

I had 2″ stencils but didn’t have enough of the letters I needed. I asked when I was at Michael’s and was told that they stopped stocking them. I went on Amazon and ordered them in the same size and font. When they came they did not match my other stencils at all; they were 2″ and Italic but wider than the ones I had so they could not be mixed. The problem being is that you only get one letter of each. If the name has two ee’s like mine did, you had to stencil, (3 coats), wait for it to dry, and then at the very end add the extra e. These stencils did not have a marker on them to match upper and lower case letters like my other ones.

Anyhow I was going through my craft draws looking for some embellishments. I found some wooden hearts I had previously used on a valentine wreath. I also found some gems and hearts, moons, stars and circles of different colors. I might have gotten carried away. You tell me

Since they came down right after Easter, I made it into an Easter basket for her.
