Right now there are two candidates I’m looking at for the Senate. One is Schuyler VanValkenburg, a Democrat and Sibohan Dunnavant, a Republican. Here is my dilemma: Being a registered Independent, right now I am likely to vote Democrat. This is because of the far right extremism of banning books, abortion, the denial of global warming, and most of all keeping Donald Trump out of the White House.
We are being inundated with political commercials. Right now the Democrat, VanValkenburg is out and out lying about his opponent, Dunnavant. I wrote to him asking him to withdraw his ad saying that she wants to ban abortion, (no response). Her message is very clear, she wants to ban up to 15 weeks and more in cases of incest and rape. I can get aboard on that. She has helped sign into legislation 111 bipartisan laws. To me she is a moderate. I like her and her ads much better.
Back to my dilemma: This election in Virginia is extremely important. They’re saying it will foretell the presidential election. Right now the Democrats have a small lead, 22 to 18 to balance power. If I vote for Dunnavant, I will contribute to the Republicans getting a lead, which I’m afraid will lead to stricter laws concerning education, and dropping environmental initiatives, which our governor has already done.
Why just two choices, the last two major elections and now this election, is about picking the lesser of two evils. I feel I have no choice.
