A Day in my Life, I will wake up anywhere from 12:30 am until 4 or 5 am. I cannot go back to sleep because my mind is full, so much always going round and round. I will put the TV on, Nick at Nite, it has mindless TV and is enough to distract me from my thoughts and hopefully fall back asleep. Sometimes I doze on and off and other times I fall into a very deep sleep, (usually closer to the morning). Frequently I wake up with my hips aching. I am awake and usually out of bed by 7/7:30 am. Always at 7 when I am going to the garden, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 to 1:30. I go into the kitchen and count out my pills for the day, eleven in all. I turn on the TV, The Today Show, have my 2 cups of coffee and read whatever papers I have left over from the night before. On Monday and Friday at my request Pete will bring home, The Richmond Times Dispatch, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and The NY Times. I will read all of the papers, in that order from cover to cover, (except the sports section), I pull out the crossword puzzles to do whenever I have time. I used to get the papers on Wednesday too, but it became too much, I didn’t have time for other things.
I shower, make the bed, eat breakfast, (always the same thing, Multi-Grain Cheerios or oatmeal with fruit). and get dressed. If it is cool enough I will try to get in the garden by 9/9:30 and hopefully make it until 12/1:00. If not I keep the TV on. I might start laundry or if there is a lot of preparation for dinner, I will do that in the morning when I have energy. At precisely 12 pm I go into the office and either write a blog post, like I am doing now and then playing Mahjong on my laptop until 2 pm if I’m not interrupted. At 2 I have lunch, ususally the same thing, yogurt and fruit or honey, an energy bar, apple. I put on my shows, which I had DVR’d, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. I’ll sometimes do laundry too.
Its about 3:30 and I really don’t do anything after that. I’ll play games on my iPad, Vista is my new obsession, a color by numbers. I attribute my game playing to “burying my brain.” The time goes faster and I don’t have to think. There are phone calls I need to make to friends, that I don’t, I hate talking on the phone. If I have to make a phone call, doctors, appointment, etc., I make them in the morning, otherwise they don’t get made. Between 5 and 6 I will have an energy dirnk, Celsius, my favorite, or a cup of coffee.
Dinner is anywhere fom 6:30 to 8 o’clock. I do all of the cooking. After dinner, TV, the rest of the night. Again, playing games and reading the paper while watching. I stay up to 11/11:30, sometimes until my eyes are rolling back in my head. Go to bed with Nick at Night, Friends is on and I shut the TV before I start this whole routine again in the middle of the night.
Variations include, having my neighbor over, feeding the stray cats, reading a book, Physical Therapy, meeting a friend for lunch and/or shopping and doing crafts.
