After Party

All my worries were for nothing! The party was a big success. First and foremost he was surprised! All but 3 people invited came. Here is the rundown: I was worried about Hurricane Ian. He didn’t hit NY until Monday: I was doubting my choice of venue. The owner Joe was fabulous! He did set up buffet style like I wanted. He surprised me with homemade cream puffs that were the best. Another worry was the cake. Although expensive, $115, came out delicious. The 6 was chocolate with raspberry chocolate mousse filling. The 0 was a traditional carrot cake. Both were topped with a whipped cream frosting.

Everyone stated what a good time they had and went on to complement the venue, owner, and raved about the food and even the beer. I was back in my element and it felt great! I did have a lot of help, from my sister-in-law who sent me pictures of P’s childhood, that I used for the invitations, and my son and his girlfriend who ordered, paid for and decorated. I loved having both our families mingle. That has only happened a few times, over 12 years ago. I was thrilled about his friends coming and he was too!

My other worries were staying at my sons home. It worked out okay. I was able to get in and out of the shower with minimal help. I got to see my granddaughter every day and even taught her Yellow Submarine,” which I had to play the video and sing with her at the very least 3X a day! I think that is a record, starting her at 2 years old, her Beatles appreciation. I forgot, they played The Beatles when L was pregnant, so it stated early on.

All in all a wonderful trip. I got to see my daughter and only had one blowout with her. I got to be there for my grandsons 18 birthday. Unfortunately it only made me more homesick to be around family.
