On Wednesday, 12/10 I made the decision to go back to volunteering in the shop. I didn’t feel good but I had to get out of the house. It might not have been a physically healthy decision, BUT it was essential to my mental health.
I knew I would be emotional. As soon as I saw Laura, (manager), she came and gave me a hug and said how happy she was I’m back. Of course I started crying. Then Stevie came in with another big hug and more tears. I was honest with her about how I physically felt, told her I was faking it and how horrible I really felt.
Seeing the different themed Christmas trees and decorations throughout the store brought smiles and of course more tears. I knew it would make me feel better being there. We had fun working together. I loved being a part of the festivities.
There was no one scheduled for the 2 to 6 shift so I decided to stay until 3:30. I needed to leave because Ellie had been alone for too long and I was feeling guilty.
