Today the temperature is 104 degrees. Pete left for Anchorage Alaska early this morning, so it’s me and Ellie until Sunday. I needed to take her outside so I decided, since it’s so hot, to take the golf cart. I figured she would get exercise and I could pick some flowers to bring inside.
I started in the new bed that I put all the seeds in. Of course there was a ton of weeds and of course I had to start pulling them out. I had to start picking some flowers. I was getting hot so I figured I needed to get in the front perennial garden. There I picked some False Sunflowers, and I also got a couple of Scabiosa. The blue Hydrangeas looked good (in the shade garden) so I picked a few.
Back to perennial garden. There I started to cut some Calla Lilies. They were a far reach and one dropped. I couldn’t reach it and I was getting very weak and sweaty.
I’m ridiculous. God forbid I just stop and go inside. I couldn’t leave the Calla Lily that fell to die. I pulled down my kneeler to pick it up and cut some more. I also added some Coneflowers. I threw the kneeler in the golf cart and, legs shaking and sweating drove into the garage. Praying that I can make it up the stairs. I put the flowers in a mug with water, grabbed a Gatorade, and plopped on the couch. Phew!!
