Best Intentions

I went out today with the best intentions; the weather was low 60’s and cloudy.  Perfect for me to be in the garden.  My knees weren’t feeling great and I had a feeling that I might not be able to do what I wanted, I had to try.  First item on my list was to cut down the Solidago,”Solar Cascade,” common name Goldenrod.  This has to be cut down 1/2 way in June if you want it to bloom in the fall.  I got a quarter of them cut down and also pulled a lot of dead away from iris and lilies that are near them, when I tried to get up and my legs wouldn’t let me.  I was done, already!  On a weather day that I could have lasted 3 hours or more, my legs wouldn’t let me.

Totally bummed, I wasn’t ready to go in.  I went in the back rose garden and did some dead heading, where I could stand up.  Giant weeds that I could bend down and pick out. That is all the gardening that will get done today.  The next 2 days are supposed to be the same weather wise and hopefully I will feel better and be outside.  I’ll post some pics of what is blooming instead.
