COVID-19, Bivalent Booster

I felt very lucky to be able to receive this newest booster for COVID-19. I had the original Moderna and the first booster, but I hadn’t had any others. I was waiting for this new updated version. This one can help restore protection that might have decreased since the original. It is stronger and provides more protection from newer variants. These “bivalent” boosters target the recent Omnicron subvariants, BA.4 and BA.5, (more contagious and more resistant than earlier strains). I received the flu shot in my left arm and the booster in my right arm. I asked the nurse about any side effects and she stated none noted.

I came home and had a very good afternoon. I went to bed around midnight, (my normal), and woke up soon after feeling hot and achy, not able to move my legs. I felt horrible. I wanted to get up and take an Aleve or Motrin or something, but I couldn’t get out of bed. I was up all night feeling like shit, trying to maneuver my way out of bed.

Ordinarily any noise seems to wake P up, but no matter how much noise I made, for some reason he did not wake up. Hmmmph! In the morning I had to pee bad. It took me almost 40 minutes to get out of bed. My right leg was having bad spasms, and I couldn’t get it to stop. I couldn’t lift my leg up to put on sweat pants. Once up, my right leg refused to work, I dragged it into the bathroom. From there I went into the kitchen to take my morning medications and some Aleve.

I was so weak and my limbs weren’t responding. I spent the afternoon in bed, I couldn’t sleep, (God forbid anything affect my appetite). I recognized this was a side effect from the booster and that I just had to wait it out. I do feel that because I have MS, the vaccinations effect me differently, as in the case of not being able to move my legs. That evening I went to my leftover medicine from when I had the dental problems. I could take 800 mg of Motrin or Hydrocodone, (both expired a year ago) I decided on the Hydrocodone.

I had the best night’s sleep that I’ve had in years. I woke up full of energy, back to myself, yeah! I was tempted to take another pill the following night because I slept so well, but I didn’t. That is why I still have them for emergencies.
