Electronically Challenged

My husband has been gone for 2 weeks, tomorrow he is coming home. Since the very first day he’s been away, things have broken and stopped working for no apparent reason. The first thing that happened was the pond had drained. The pump was still working, whatever little water was in there was going through. I have no idea what happened so I went out to unplug the pump because eventually there would be no water to pump.

The following day the coffee maker stopped working. Again, no apparent reason. The lights came on, it just did nothing. I checked the obvious, there was coffee in the filter and water to brew. I unplugged and plugged it back in. I changed outlets. I looked for the instruction booklet, and couldn’t find. This led me to cleaning out a drawer full of papers and throwing out a lot of expired offers and menu’s that were out of date. This also brought me back to the last time he was away in February when the KitchenAid coffee maker also stopped working. At the time I had this brand new Mr. Coffee which I’d been using till now. I’m sure it is something simple but I can’t figure it out. Luckily I have the Keurig, the first day with no coffee wasn’t pretty!

On the third evening I went to bed and put on the TV in the bedroom, which I always do to watch Friends until I go to sleep. Well guess what, THE TV WASN’T WORKING! Can you believe it? I tried changing channels, pressing the Input button, nothing worked. All I got and still get is the LG logo. I contacted Comcast on my phone and they did a refresh, and that didn’t work either.

Interesting side note; since I’m not watching TV, I’m not waking up in the middle of the night and I’m staying in bed later than ever, today until 8:00. I don’t understand this because waking in the middle of the night is something I’ve done for years and is the reason I have the TV in the bedroom. I figure this way I can put on mindless shows and it will stop my brain from racing and thinking too much. I’ll have to experiment more and see if this keeps up, maybe I won’t watch TV in bed anymore.

I was missing all the crossword puzzles in the newspapers and my husband said I can get them for free online. He sent me the NYT crossword, which I was able to print. I went online to get some more and no matter what I did, I was not able to get the NYT, Wall St. Journal, or USA Today crosswords.

Back to being electronically challenged. I have wrote about this before. It is par for the course with me. I feel there is something in my body, some electronic field that gets messed up when I’m around electronic devices.. My daughter even recognizes this and my husband is finally coming around to believe it too.

I also have a hard time with metal and certain parts of my body, although this I attribute to having MS. I can’t wear watches, they bother me and for some unknown reason don’t work and I have a hard time handling coins, there is a reaction that’s hard to describe, just very uncomfortable.

Do any of you have challenges like I described?
