EVUSHELD for Coronavirus-Disease 2019

At my six month check up with my neurologist, MS doctor, he stated that he wanted me to receive this medicine. It was explained to me that along with another COVID-19 booster, (In my case Moderna), I needed to do both. The reason being is that by receiving Ocrevus, which depletes my B levels, which help fight immunity, I needed to replace them. This series of two shots, in the butt administered simultaneously.

I had to go back to the outpatient offices of VCU and two nurses, each one, right after the other delivered the shots. The shots are intramuscular and did not hurt at all. You had to hang around for an hour just to be sure you were okay.

The facts of this drug are: “The FDA had issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to make EVUSHELD available during the COVID-19 pandemic. EVUSHELD is an investigational medicine used in adults and adolescents for pre-exposure prophylaxis in persons who are:

  • not currently infected with SARS-Cov-2 and have not had recent close contact with someone who is infected with same.
  • Who have moderate to severe immune compromise due to a medical condition or have received immunosuppressive medicines or treatments and may not mount an adequate immune response to COVID-19 vaccination
  • For whom vaccination with any available COVID-19 vaccine, according to the approved or authorized schedule is not reccommended due to a history of severe adverse reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine ingredient(s).”

The above fact based information is taken directly from the “Fact Sheet for Patients, Parents, and Caregivers”, given to me on the day I received the shots. I have not had any adverse effects and I do not plan on getting another COVID-19 booster until the fall, (my doctor told me to get another booster). My reason is that I have had the original two Moderna vaccines plus another booster and I heard the one coming out in the fall will be stronger and I want to wait for that one.
