Our house in N. Carolina is almost ready. I have been saving a few catalogs with items that I want for the new house. One of the items was a quilt set in the Soft Surroundings catalog dated one year ago. I found out recently that Soft Surroundings has filed bankrupcy and will start closing stores after the new year, (another one bites the dust). Anyway thiw quilt set is no longer available through them. So of course the next step is to google the maker and find out where else I can get it. Two places came up. One for the same price as Soft Surroundings, $259. and another for $71. I googled the places to see if they were legit and they seemed to be. I went on the one for $71., because I’m cheap, and proceeded to order. Everything went smoothly until I was checking out. A Paypal ad popped up to pay through them. I accepted because not being sure of the vendor, I would still have protection with this purchase.
Next thing I know I was being charged $99. to some guys name. I immediately stopped the payment. This morning I woke up to a text and email from Capital One saying they stopped another charge from going through and to call them which I did. Well someone was definately having a party with my credit card. We went over all the charges, and thankfully Capital One had denied all of them until I got in touch with them.
So I’m getting a new card and will not be getting the quilt set I wanted. I have also learned a lesson that I already knew and didn’t listen to, “if it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn’t”
