This post is taken directly from a Washington Post article written by Anahad O’Connor.
You can read the full story here: There’s no paywall, although you may be asked to provide an email address. https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2022/09/13/eating-lab-sleep-food-weight-loss/
I don’t know how successful that link is, (I tried), anyway if you google this exact title, “Why poor sleep can wreck your eating habits and what you do by Anahad O’Connor” it will come up for you to read. If you just google how poor sleep can ruin your eating habits, there are many studies written about this that explains the correlation between the two found in multiple reputable studies.
Basically it says that our sleep habits influence the amount and types of food we eat and even whether we gain or lose body fat. Losing sleep can trigger brain and hormonal changes that simulate food cravings, which then urge you to consume more calories, especially from junk foods with fat and sugar.
This is huge, and as I was looking for more excuses, I found a sound, medically proven reasoning behind it. Now to work on my sleep…….to be continued.
