I’m Very Healthy, I Just Have MS

This is my go to phrase when I’m asked how I’m feeling. It’s true. Throughout my life I am grateful that I’m able to say that I’ve always been extremely healthy. Not to say I’ve never been sick. I’ve had sinus infections, colds, upset stomach. I also have my few and far between “ice pick” headache, (a type of migraine) that I need a prescription for it to go away. When people around me are sick, I rarely catch whatever is going around.

When it came to COVID 19, I was not freaked out about it. I was able to get my series of vaccines early because of my compromised immune system. I have no qualms about vaccinations, I get whatever I may need. I was not paranoid like some people I know. I wore my mask and washed my hands a lot. I also wiped down surfaces with disinfectant. I continued to food shop and do things that were allowed. People all around me got COVID. My neighbors, my sons family, co volunteers, P’s work colleagues. To this day, neither I nor P have gotten COVID. I really don’t want to jinx myself here, so I won’t say more

As an aside, My sister and husband were extremely paranoid. We stopped getting together for Christmas and they didn’t come to “cousins night,” even though we were all vaccinated. They were very rude when we pulled up in front of my nephews home to give his girls their presents, shouting, “you can’t come in here.” We had no intention of coming in. I took great pleasure in the fact that when they felt safe enough they went on a Viking cruise and they both came back with COVID.
