Let it Snow

Woke up this morning to about 4 inches of snow, very pretty. Right now I am very grateful for my husband. He had one cup of coffee and headed outside with Maggie. Immediately he started shoveling driveway, deck, walkways and cleaned off all of the vehicles! It is now 12:45 and he is snowblowing our neighbors driveway. That is who he is. I’ve said it before, he is what I call a machine.

As much as I feel unloved and ignored by him, he has always done the right thing, For me, his family, my family, neighbors and friends. I admire that and appreciate that trait in him. No matter how long he works, he’ll come home and do the dinner dishes every night and go anywhere, food shopping, picking up prescriptions, etc. He is never too tired.

I’m grateful that he keeps the bird feeders full because he knows how much I enjoy watching all the birds and even chasing the squirrels away. He’ll fill the bird baths and help with the pond. He’s leaving in two days and is making sure that everything is left so that it is easier for me.

He built the ramp over the deck stairs to help with Maggie. When she fell of the sides, he put sides on it. When he saw I was having trouble bringing her out, he bought a square of fake grass to put on the deck so she can go to the bathroom there.

The other day I tried to take Maggie outside by myself. The deck didn’t work because the ramp is too steep for me. We went to the garage steps and I put her leash on and tried to tug her lightly to go down. She wouldn’t go and tried to turn around. I can’t hold her legs because I have to hold on to railing at the same time and its impossible to do with one hand. I ended up sitting down on the steps and started her going down where I could reach around and hold her back legs. It worked somewhat. She fell on her side, but landed on me. We continued that way for 2 more steps and we made it without either one of us getting hurt. Phew!

I also did speak to my sister and she told me about a device they had gotten for their dog when his legs went. We looked on line and ordered it from Amazon. I’ll keep you posted.
