We were in Myrtle Beach Thursday thru Sunday. The first two days we argued constantly. It was always, “what do you want for breakfast, lunch, dinner?” The man is ruled by his stomach. If I didn’t feel like eating, we still had to go. I had never been in Myrtle Beach, I had previously driven through and I did not realize how much there was to do.
I wanted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe to get a new Hard Rock guitar pin, so that is where we went to lunch on Friday after the sales meeting. By the way the service sucked. The restaurant was in an area that was an outdoor fun mecca with lots of shopping and rides, (not amusement rides). There was rope climbing courses, (which again, I would have done if not for MS). There was zip lining, which I’m dying to do, but there was no elevator so that was out. They had these speed boats that spun around and got you soaked that I wanted to go on. It would have been a challenge to get in and out but I felt confident I could do it, he did not want to go. The whole time he was a big grump, impatient when I went into stores and just being himself. NO FUN.
My main mission was to go swimming in the pool, the weather was not cooperating, but Saturday I finally made it! I brought my new bathing suit, which thankfully fit, (I bought it last year) The pool was a distance away so I wanted to use the wheelchair, (against his wishes). It worked out well. I wheeled right to the railing in the low part and was able to get right in. It felt so good. Most of the time I just stood holding onto the edge. I couldn’t believe that I was afraid to move. I was hoping the swelling in my feet would go down, but they didn’t. The pool was 5′ all around. I did try to swim very short lengths. My legs dragged. I was able to move them more just holding onto the edge. I stayed in about 1 1/2 hours but the pool was getting crowded and there were a lot of kids hanging around the stairs. I was thankful that finally I got to be in the water. Of course the next day was beautiful and I wanted to go in but we had to leave.
Sunday after checking out we went to my long time friends home in Merrills Inlet, (1/2 hour away). I love her and her husband and P likes them too. I was so happy to see her, she is one of my few long time best friends. We went out to dinner and styed up late talking. In the morning we said our goodbyes.
