This week I had an appointment with a new doctor, Dr. Moen. She specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This appointment was made when I was in the hospital in November. Since I have started physical therapy I didn’t understand why I had to see this doctor too. I was going to cancel but it was too late and I didn’t want to be charged for the visit. I’m very glad that I didn’t cancel.
We discussed the braces for my legs that I would be getting. She wrote a Rx for them. I also told her about my “new” wheelchair and how impossible it is for me to get into the car, from how it folds and also how heavy it is. She told me that with Stephanie, (my physical therapist) they would see what could be done to help me use it, including modifications for the car. I didn’t know that this was possible through a doctor’s orders.
She did the usual tests of strength in my arms and legs, emphasis on range of motion and spacicity for legs and feet. She thought I might benefit with the use of Botox injections to help relax the muscles.
Well there you go. I learn something every day. Who knew?
