We did it, finally! I had wanted to go play tourist in NYC for awhile now. We previously had gone to the city every year during our trips to NY. We hadn’t been there since before Covid. I wanted to go to Strawberry Fields, the High Line, Hudson Yards, the 9/11 Museum, and maybe see a play. Well we were able to do all of them and even a little more.
Pete made reservations at The Envue Marriott in Weehawken, NJ. He thought it would be fun to take the ferry into Manhattan and we had a better view of the city staying across the river. His decision was mainly based on the fact that he didn’t want to pay parking fees staying at a midtown hotel, (there were still parking fees at this hotel). Pete is an Elite member of Marriott Rewards, he has close to a million points. Do you think he could have booked something in the city? I do. Anyway, the view was beautiful and it wasn’t a problem taking the ferry. Unfortunately we could not get a room with a river view of the Manhattan skyline. So much for being an Elite member. The pictures below are from outside our hotel.

The first day we went to Central Park and Strawberry Fields. I was in heaven, I hadn’t been there in probably 20 years. There was a man with a guitar singing John Lennon and Beatle songs. I got my picture on the Imagine mosaic. We continued to Columbus Circle and had lunch at the Carnegie Deli. They are known for their pastrami and of course that is what Pete had, (reuben, delicious, I had a bite). I had plain Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and honey, (same as what I eat at home). It was a generous dish and I enjoyed it.

The following day we did a Trail Walk along the river, ate at a great Italian restaurant and then got on the High Line. We did the entire line. I had wanted to check out the landscaping because I have read and seen so many things about it. I thought that it would have been longer than it was. When we got off, it was a short walk to Hudson Yards. We saw the staircase, didn’t know that they charged for you to go on it but it didn’t matter, obviously I couldn’t. The last picture I took is because I loved the shape of this building, it was on the High Line.
