I was pretty shocked to hear that Regis died on Friday at the age of 88. I really liked the man. I remember my mother used to have him on with Kathie Lee in the morning and then when my kids were little and whenever I was home and not working I would always watch. He was funny and sincere and worked with no scripts, and really knew how to tell a story Just by being himself, he charmed viewers, myself included. I remember his last day. It was sad for me, I felt that he was forced out because they didn’t renew his contract for what he wanted. I was mad at Gelman, and Kelly too, (they probably weren’t involved in any way). This morning Kelly and Ryan did a beautiful montage of him with the words from one of the songs from Rent changing the amount from 999,000 days to the amount of days Regis had on air that he held the Guinness Book of World Records for. It brought me almost to tears. Speaking of which, I don’t think I can cry; I think its from years being on Effexor.
We actually had company this weekend. My brother-in-law and his 2 adult sons. They drove down to pick up the John Deere tractor and long bed trailer they bought from my husband. It was so nice having them here. We couldn’t go out to dinner like we usually would have but I made my healthy spicy coleslaw and beans and we got corn on the cob and BBQ from Buz and Ned’s, (great place). Later we played Uno. It almost felt like old times. It is so hard only seeing family once a year at Christmas time. We’re missing graduations, BBQ’s, birthday celebrations, and just visiting one another’s homes. It bums me out.
Still no relief from the heat, no rain either.
