Last weekend was Katie’s wedding. Her parents are good friends of mine. I met Paulette and Gary when I lived with John in Buchanan. They were our next door neighbors. Their children are Jordan and Katie. The wedding was in NJ. I bought two dresses, one was too tight and the other I didn’t like. I wore one I had. My feet were swollen so I couldn’t wear the sandals I wanted.
The ride up was a nightmare, (as usual). We left VA at 3:20 in the afternoon and got to Long Island around midnight. We had to go to Pete’s mom’s house because she was going to watch Ellie. We spent the night and the next day drove another two hours to Jersey.
Checked into the Marriott. Pete had asked for a handicapped room when he made the reservation. I again asked at check in. I wanted a room with only a shower, no tub. We went to the room and it was not a handicapped room. I called the desk and they changed the room. This room was handicapped but with a tub. Unfortunately I needed help from Pete because I couldn’t lift my legs to get into the tub.
Anyway the wedding was beautiful. As much as I wanted to dance, I didn’t cry as I have in the past. Tears did come when Gary walked Katie down the aisle.
The next day we stopped at Pete’s brother Stan and his wife Anne and son’s, Brenden and Gregory. We visited for about an hour. Then drove back to Long Island and we barbecued with Jan, Joey, Diane, Dennis and the boys with their girlfriends.
