Therapy, (for the mind)

I recently stopped seeing Katy, out of Innsbrook Primary Care. I thought I had a good therapist but my last two sessions had me questioning what I was getting out of this. This started with her blunt question, “why are you here?” I told her that it felt good to unload my feelings and get her perspective. She helps to remind me that everything isn’t looked at in black and white terms, which is what I do. I might be interpreting her question in black and white, which made my decision to end therapy. I also told her that I don’t tell or talk to anyone about what I’m feeling and I felt tat this was a safe place. She hasn’t called to see why I haven’t scheduled any new appointments. In my mind this reinforces my decision.

There is another factor to my decision. I started to feel like she was judging me. When I told her the plans to build yet another house and how that was stressing me. She was incredulous that we were building a third house. I felt judged, it wasn’t about the house at all, it was about me not wanting to do it and going along with Pete yet again. I know how incredibly privileged that sounds and it is. The problem is me. Why can’t I put my foot down and refuse to go along with him. I didn’t bring up the new house again and she hasn’t asked.
