Trip to Publix

Yesterday I needed to pick up an Rx from Publix. Usually I go through the drive thru but I also needed food. Pete is now in Prague. Going anywhere by myself with MS takes planning

I looked at the circular, B1G1, (they’re great for that), made a list and headed out. My plan was to use the wheelchair, use a grocery basket on my lap and maneuver my way through the store.

I’m not familiar with the layout so I was kind of going in circles looking for items on my list. A woman, Annie, came up to me and offered to go around the whole store and shop with me. Of course I thanked her and told her I appreciated the offer. Then she asked what could she do to help me. I said I would like to use the ride on cart but I was afraid to leave my wheelchair. She brought me to customer service and asked where I could leave the wheelchair. Then she brought the ride on cart to me! What a nice lady. To take the time to help me. I let her know how much I appreciated the time she spent helping me.

As I proceeded through the store I was offered help in almost every aisle from fellow shoppers. Annie even checked back with me. To finish I was helped getting back to my wheelchair and groceries put into the car. Never have I experienced this kind of help. I almost forgot to pick up my Rx.

To make a comparison, my usual grocery shopping is at Kroger. I’m lucky if I get a cart, a lot of times the battery dies. I have to search for help reaching items and no one helps me to the car. That’s why I go with Pete.

Maybe it’s worth it going to Publix, even though they’re more expensive.
