Wellness Update – Me and Maggie

My girl, Maggie Mae, (can you guess where that name came from?) is currently holding steady. We stopped giving her the nausea medicine, Ondansetron 8 mg. and Mirtazapine 15 mg. to help her appetite because she seemed to be all drugged up and disoriented while she was on them. Her antibiotic is done and now she is only on her pain meds, Gabapentin 100 mg. Today I’ll start with the Mirtazapine for her appetite again because she has hardly eaten in 2 days, although she still likes her snacks and according to the vet, at her age she can have whatever she wants!

As far as going outside, I still can’t bring her. Now she needs to be carried down the steps, which my husband does and obviously I can’t. I’m still concerned about when he goes away, what I will do. I suggested a ramp from the back steps, which he kindly built, but it is too steep and she has to run, which she can’t. My daughter came up with a good idea and that is to get some sod and put it on the back deck and let her go to the bathroom there. This way she will have no steps at all. I think we’ll try it.

Now to me. I am still riding my stationary bike every day for 2 miles, even when I take a shower, which I didn’t use to, being I was so tired. I’ve been doing it for over a month and I’m happy about that, but unfortunately I don’t see any weight change. The chair yoga DVD that I talked about a couple of days ago, still hasn’t been opened, I have also been getting down on the floor and doing some stretching and I hope to keep this up.

I have also cut down a little on eating. I’m still not counting calories on My Fitness Pal, so again, I guess I’m not too serious. Instead of a bowl of ice cream, I have maybe 4 to 5 heaping teaspoons right out of the carton. My biggest weakness, you might call an addiction, is to Lantana Carrot Siracha hummus. OMG. After eating an 80 calorie yogurt with fresh strawberries, a 100 calorie nut bar and a medium/large apple for lunch I will go back in the fridge and get the bag of small carrots and the container of the hummus and eat the whole thing, (I let it last 2 days). I don’t eat crackers, or nacho chips , only the carrots., so that’s really healthy, right? The hummus is 50 calories for 2 Tbls., I’m figuring the whole container is probably 8 or 9 Tbls., so that is a lot, (400 calories)!!!!

I’m getting the second vaccine on the 19th of this month and my daughter is still sending me daily warnings about the side effects and deaths. Thank you so much. I actually took my will out, (FreeWill.com) and I’m going to finish it up just in case.
