This is a native tree in the Southeastern United States. It is also a very messy tree. We had one in the front yard and we lost it during a storm, I am thankful for that. Our neighbor has one on the edge of his property that overlooks my herb garden, wildflower garden, and three other garden beds, The cleanup is horrendous, piles and piles of leaves with tiny acorns, (which are cute).
