I’ve been very busy in the garden. I thank God that I’m feeling alright and that the weather has been cooperating, with mornings from 65 to 70 degrees. As long as I’m in the shade it’s been good. I’m also grateful that Pete has been working with me, helping me weed and mulching the completed beds. I should be taking before and after photos but I don’t remember until it’s too late. One of these days. I have also dug up some perennials that I have an excess of and giving them away. I like to do this and I appreciate when people share things from their gardens with me. I’ve shared Crocosmia, Rudbeckia, and Goldenrod. I have more but haven’t had time.

We went to Home Depot to get the one annual that I plant every year, Impatience. I plant these in a small shade garden with a bird bath that I can see from my kitchen window and enjoy looking at. I don’t consider it late in the season to buy, but there was no selection. I bought two 8 packs of mixed colors. I like to use just red but given no choice I got what I could. They had a very big clearance section but all I got was three Hens and Chicks. My plan for these is to plant in the big piece of driftwood that’s in NC. I saw large containers of Foxgloves for $17.99, that were dying because of lack of water, (that is a huge problem in these places, so many plants die just for lack of water). While lamenting this, I struck up a conversation with another gardener. She suggested asking for a discount as these were not on clearance. I did and got the container for $8.00. Once home I watered them and the next morning they looked great, standing tall and luckily I had two healthy plants. I planted them in the pond garden.
