Autumn is my favorite time of year. I welcome the cooler temperatures and the ability to work outside in the garden. We got married in October. Our honeymoon was a road trip through Skyline Drive into the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway. The feeling I get when I see the trees changing to different colors is unexplainable. There is nowhere I’d rather be.
In New York I remember driving to my friends house, just 45 minutes North and being in awe of the fall colors, blue sky and crisp cool air. I remember hiking in the woods of Blue Mountain in Peekskill with the same friend and stopping at the lake, seeing the reflection of the leaves in the water. The beauty of nature. Out of everything I can no longer do, the thing I miss the most is hiking. I’ve hiked Anthony’s Nose, Manitoga, nature preserves, woods with no trails. Fondest memory is of going to the top of Perkins Drive, (near Bear Mtn. in NY) with the same girlfriend and another friend too, bringing a bottle of champagne with us and sitting at the top on a rock formation and having heart to heart talks, laughing and imagining two hunks showing up to join us and laughing again at ourselves. As usual I digress.
Anyway here we are in Virginia and the leaves this year are just as awe inspiring. These are pictures in my backyard.
