I am having a lot of anxiety about what is going on in the USA and throughout the world. I don’t think I watch too much news. In the morning, the Today Show, in the evening, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir or NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and the local news at 6 and 11. I don’t watch any of the 24 hour news channels. I also watch 60 Minutes on Sunday evenings. I read the NY Times, (liberal) Wall Street Journal, (conservative) USA Today and the local Richmond paper 3X a week. Here is what is causing my anxiety:
Immigration – The other day the news reported more immigration coming from Mexico and South America in 20 years! I have a huge problem with this as I have stated before. STOP THEM COMING! Our borders with Canada have been closed for over a year and yet illegals from the South can continue to enter our country nonstop. President Biden had put Kamala Harris in charge of this and she has done absolutely nothing, and either has he! If Covid isn’t enough of a reason, I don’t know what else is. Is there a middle between building a wall and letting them come freely
Afghanistan – We are in the process of removing all of our troops. Unfortunately as we leave, the Taliban has free reign and are taking over city after city, province over province with ease. The Afghani troops that we have spent 20 years training and arming are laying down their weapons in defeat only to be killed anyway! I don’t get it. If your going to be killed anyway, it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to tell you to go down taking as many of them as you can in the process. This is heart breaking to watch. especially the women and children who will be effected the most.
I realized that some Afghani children have grown up not knowing what the Taliban have done.
They have always freely gone to school and women have businesses and professional jobs. All are running as fast as they can to leave the country or head to Kabul or Kandahar, the two largest Afghani cities, where the Taliban have not reached yet. The women are being killed or taken to be brides of the Taliban.
I have to say that in one way I agree with President Biden when he said, that if after 20 years of our training their soldiers hasn’t worked, our staying there isn’t going to make any difference. I don’t understand the Afghani men. The Revolutionary War was because we didn’t want to be under England’s rule anymore.. If that is the case, you need to strongly believe in your cause and never give up! These Afghani citizens really need to step up. At this point, it might be up to the women to take up arms and fight back.. I think I wou,d rather do that then go back to the subservient conditions they will be under the Taliban rule.
Immigration and Afghanistan – I would also rather have the Afghani citizens who helped our troops and the women who need to leave the country, immigrate to the US before anymore come from Mexico and South America.. Get them out of Afghanistan! Stop the influx on our Southern border.
