Becoming Led Zeppelin

Yesterday I went to see the new documentary, “Becoming Led Zeppelin.” I’ve been hearing about this for over a year and it’s finally out, showing in IMAX. This is the only account of their history that all three remaining members cooperated on and approved of.

Surprise, surprise, I loved it! The movie was done very well. It told the story of each member and their musical journey since they were young. It then told how they ended up together as a band. Many, many performances as a young band and the release of their first album and following with Zeppelin II.

You are guided through the movie with history and stories from Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. There were accompanying tapes of John Bonham.

The music was, I can’t even explain it, mind blowing, bombastic, mesmerizing!!! There wasn’t much that I didn’t know, but I did learn a few things. One item of interest was showing the Billboard listing of hits for 1969 and #1 was Zeppelin II, and #2 was The Beatles, Abby Road. That was news to me.

I went with Pete, couldn’t think of a girlfriend who would like it. Anyway it was me, Pete and a theater of men. Oh well, I was movin and grooving, thoroughly enjoying myself.
