The other day I had my third followup after my tooth was pulled. He had done some gum grafting and was checking how well I healed so that I could get a tooth implant, which is what we had discussed. I brought up the point that everytime I had toothwork done, I proceeded to have those debilitating pains shooting through my jaw up to my ear. Everytime this happens he checks and there is no explanation. I told him I was being treated for osteopsorosis with Prolia and thought that maybe that would be causing this pain.
Surprisingly he said to me that as long as I can eat and function normally with the tooth out that he wouldn’t do the implant or a crown, that being on Prolia would most certainly effect the procedure. He said if its not broke why fix it. In one way I was relieved, because I thought of just leaving it alone. Thankfully you can’t see the missing tooth when I smile, otherwise I would definately have it replaced.
