Gary Clark Jr.

They say its my birthday, Happy Birthday to me! Speaking of birthday’s, Ringo had a fabulous 80th party with awesome guests and performances like he always does! All proceeds were donated Black Lives Matter Global Network, Musicares, David Lynch Foundation, and WaterAid. As always his message is PEACE and LOVE.

The performance that made the best impression with me was Gary Clark Jr.’s rendition of “Come Together.” He has been on my radar for awhile now and I’m a huge fan! I want more. I will go out and buy an album or CD of his because I like everything I’ve heard by him. It is very rare that I buy new music, not old music that I’m buying. Let’s see the last time I did buy new music was probably individual songs for my ipod, yes I said it, ipod.

When I hear music, what really blows me away, is a unique voice, a wailing guitar and great lyrics. Alot of artists have some of those components but for me to have all three is rare.

Some of the artists where I’ve heard a few songs and went out and bought CD’s or albums are The Black Crowes. Their lyrics and music got me. Also Tom Petty, more great lyrics, Alice in Chains, loved the lyrics and how heavy the music is. Ozzy, not a great voice but his lyrics are phenomenal. I wanted to walk down the aisle to “Revelation, (Mother Earth)”, the classical break in the song. Listen to the words, still relevant; “War Pigs”, still relevant. I and probably millions of other people thought “Paranoid” described themselves.
