Guns, Mass Shootings, and more Guns

5/24/2022 – Uvalde, Texas – Robb Elementary School, 19 students and two teachers gunned down, plus the grandmother of 18 year old gunman. The gunman was shot dead by a border control agent.

Reporters are asking how people feel. Sad, yes, frustration yes, angry yes. Besides feeling deep sadness for the victims, their families, and families of previous mass shootings, my feeling is complete anger! I’m tired of this happening! I thought Sandy hook Massacre would have been the ultimate test for changing gun laws, the Parkside School in Florida, nightclubs, concerts, the local movie theater and churches, and just a few weeks ago, a grocery store. How come when it is shown that 70% of citizens want gun reform, we don’t have it. Excuses, excuses and more excuses. The NRA/gun lobby is unbelievably powerful for this to keep happening over and over again and have no laws changed!

Why are people under the age of 21 allowed to buy these weapons? This gunman had no record and the guns were bought legally, (a present for his 18th birthday) A court in California just a few weeks ago said that keeping an 18 year old from buying one of these weapons is against his constitutional rights! Most, if not all of these mass shootings are committed by young males under 21. Isn’t that reason enough? We need to take a class and pass a test to get our drivers license, before we operate a vehicle that can potentially cause death. Why don’t you have to take a class and get training to operate one of these weapons? I guess if there are no requirements needed to become President of the United States, we can’t possibly have requirements for responsible gun ownership.

This is the 213th mass shooting in this year alone and it is only half of the year!

There have been 900 of these incidents alone since Sandy Hook

There are more guns than people in the United States

The only way I can see any change is to vote, VOTE, VOTE! Vote into office people who are open to changing gun laws. Don’t be ridiculous and believe rhetoric that “they’re gonna come and take all your guns away.” Politicians and gun advocates turn to scare tactics to get people worked up.
There are many responsible gun owners who believe in common sense laws.

Bottom line is that I am scared. I’m scared of the white supremist’s, the independent militias operating in the United States, belief that some have of an inevitable race war, the fake news, manipulation of the vulnerable, conspiracy theories. I fear for our future and especially our children’s future.
