Meet Paris, aka Ellie

Finally, we have a new addition. After that terrible experience with CARE I continued my search. That same evening we went to “Flowers after Five” at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. This time you were allowed to bring your dogs, (twice a month). There’s live music and it’s fun. I started talking to a woman with her dog who was adopted. I told her of the trouble I was having trying to adopt. She suggested trying Southside SPCA, where she had gotten her dog.

I went online as soon as I got home. First dog was Paris, a goldendoodle. She is 5 years old and described as very sweet, got along with children and other dogs. I applied immediately. Saturday morning I received a phone call from the SPCA. They were going to be in Richmond that day. We had plans to go to Kings Dominion with Bryan and Brylee. She told me that if not adopted we can see her during the week.

Sunday morning I received another call and said they were open that day till 3:30, otherwise make an appointment for later in the week. Pete said let’s go and we did! A nice drive, an hour and a half on a beautiful day. No problem adopting her and the adoption fee was $245.00. Can you believe it? She did not know her name so I renamed her Ellie, yes the same name as the little dog. I liked the name so much and I call her “Miss Ellie.” Anyone remember Miss Ellie from the show Dallas? I thought it was a nice southern name.
