A few weeks ago I took another Mixed Media class at the garden. It was a 3 hour class and I wasn’t that impressed with what we did, (although I did screw up). It could have been because the time constraints of the class that the project was easy, ( again I screwed up). Here is what we did and my results.
We took 2 pictures, of the botanical garden or your own garden* (see below) and had them developed the same day. Next we took 2 wooden canvases, one small and a larger one and painted them either black, white, both white or black, whatever you choose. I painted the small one white and the larger one black.
* Back to the photos; for the larger canvas, you had 3 copies plus original. The small, 2 copies plus original. We cut the copies into strips, all the same size. This is where I screwed up, I cut all of the photos into strips, so I was unable to make the larger canvas in class.
Using glue sticks we attached the main photo to the canvas in whatever position you wanted. Next you laid out your strips surrounding the main photo. The last step was spraying the canvases with Kamar acrylic spray, (6 coats).
As you can see, by placing and gluing the strips, I elongated the tree, on top, and also extended the pond. This is the one I did at home.
