This month I have finally decided to commit to a diet. My weight is 145.8. For now I am adding up calories in my head, not using My Fitness Pal app. It’s very easy to diet when Pete is away, I’m hoping when he gets home Saturday that he will seriously start dieting too, (he said he was going to). We have different dieting styles, he prefers following the Keto Diet because he can have bacon and a lot of meat. That doesn’t work for me, I prefer cutting calories and eating healthier.
Along with eating healthier, I was told about this app, Yuka. It’s free. After downloading the app all you do is scan the barcode of any food. That food will come up with a rating system from 1 to 100. It will list the negatives for the food and then the positives. If the food isn’t good, it will list by name brand alternatives to which you can choose. This is brilliant. The first item I scanned was Multigrain Cheerios, which I have eaten for years and still do. The rating was: 27/100. Poor; Negatives: additives, calories sugar and sodium. Positives: Fiber, Protein and Saturated Fat. Recommendations: Heritage Flakes, Nature’s Path, 88/100; Cascadian Farm Organic Honey Oat cereal 67/100 and Trader Joe’s Corn Flakes, 100/100. There are a couple more too.
Side Note: once you scan your first item you will only get limited access. If you send the app to someone, you are granted full access. Make sure you read about the origins for this app, you’ll love the story and be excited to share with your friends/family. You can also search for products if you don’t have a barcode and the app does the same for beauty products, which I haven’t used yet.
