MRI #3

MRI Music – I asked for “classic rock” and that’s what I got, It was loud, to try and block out the banging, of course it didn’t work, but I could still hear it clearly. I was on the 7th song, not a good guess, when they pulled me out to put in the contrast. The songs before they pulled me out were pretty generic, The Eagles, AC/DC, and I don’t even remember the others.

When I was put back in I thought I was hearing Metallica, “Master of Puppets,” it was very low, so I couldn’t be sure. I was actually getting mad because the banging was relentless, no lull. They actually played it twice, which I thought was odd, and then Guns ‘n Roses, “Paradise City.”

Whenever I hear Metallica I think of my son. Most of his childhood I would hear Metallica blasting in his room. He had long hair and would only wear black. I was working in corporate and got a second job waitressing on Saturdays so I could buy him the same guitar that James Hetfield played. More memories, pleasant ones. When he was 12, I along with my live in boyfriend at the time, took him and two of his friends to see Metallica and Danzig at the Orange County Speedway in NY. It was a very hot evening and there was a lot of drinking going on. My son and his friend Keith, (they’re still friends) wanted to go into the mosh pit, not happening. The other friend Jason, was hiding behind my boyfriend scared to death, (he lives above his parents and is lost on drugs).

Then my mind went to how I took him to see Metallica, and how he has seen Guns ‘n Roses, and The Rolling Stones (twice), when I haven’t! I was listening to Guns ‘n Roses way before him and his sister, who also saw them. My point being that after he saw the Stones, I asked him that if they came around again, would he please get me tickets, because I know P wouldn’t and my son gets better seats and deals, and of course I would reimburse him. NEVER HAPPENED. Oh well…

When I finally was brought out of the MRI, I asked the technician about the change in music and when was Metallica considered “classic rock”? He replied that it ws 27 years ago and yes indeed it was . Well on Sirus XM they don’t consider them “classic rock,” so there.

I’m exhausted from all that thinking during my MRI
