New Wheelchair

I finally got my new wheelchair! It was delivered on Tuesday morning. It’s very different than my existing wheelchair. This one is aluminum instead of titanium. I have no leg attachments, which I never used. There is a curved bar that goes straight down with a folding foot rest. I was able to choose a color for the metal bar and I chose my favorite color, blue.

The back of the wheelchair is higher and feels better, more support. Between this and the foot rest I’m sitting up straighter and I’m not hunched over. The handles are adjustable for whoever is pushing me.

I also have a motor, which looks like a portable vacuum. It easily attaches to the back bar. The hand controls are above the right tire. It stays there whether you use the motor or not.

I was hoping that it was lighter than the one I have. My goal is to be able to put it in the back of the SUV by myself. Unfortunately I have to take the entire wheelchair apart in order to get it in the vehicle. I find it very awkward to fold and lift. The back folds down onto the seat and it is very boxy and large. With my existing wheelchair, I take the legs and seat off and I’m able to fold together with a thinner profile, except it’s too heavy to lift into the back.
