Turning “65”

July 8, 1958, that’s it, 65 years ago. There is no stopping it. the number just keeps getting bigger and bigger. My daughter sent me a picture taken five years ago for my 60th. My kids surprised me and I was very grateful. That year I had wanted to skydive but was not healthy enough to do, so I was depressed about that. Anyhow, the picture was a good one except it showed how much I aged in only 5 years!

On Friday night we had reservations at a restaurant that I had wanted to go to, “Portico“. It was as nice as I thought and the food was delicious. I dressed nice and wore makeup. It was very generous of P and I had a nice time. As expected, no romance, flirting, compliments, laughing, nothing to mark it as special. Basically two friends having dinner. That is not true, when I have dinner with my friends I have a really good time. Never was it more apparent that we are just going through the moves required to show a happy couple to the world and saying what we did for my birthday.

Saturday was my birthday and we had nothing planned. I ended up not feeling good in the morning, dizzy, disoriented and my mouth was so dry that I had a hard time speaking. I went back to bed and got up around one. Again, it was just another day. My kids and my cousins called and friends texted me. I got to portal with Brylee and she sang “Happy Birthday,” which made my day! No call from my brother or sister. My present from P was a necklace that I really wanted, or a tattoo, (value $500). I decided on the tattoo.

On Sunday we had reservations at Pippin Winery in Charlottesville. I love the ride West on 64 toward the mountains and it was leisurely, I didn’t talk at all, so as not to have any arguments. The winery was beautiful, we had some tastings, me white, him red. We also had lunch, which was delicious. The grounds were beautiful, with spectacular views of the mountains, lots of flowers blooming. The tasting rooms and covered veranda, where we sat, were all accessible. The gardens and vineyard were not. I had a nice afternoon, surrounded by nature.
