Dolly Parton is my hero! Besides being one of the most loved and admired music stars there is, she is also an acclaimed writer and humanitarian. Her giving of herself is endless.
Yesterday, Dolly Parton withdrew her name for consideration into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What a brave, selfless woman! As you may recall I previously posted, (2/2/22, The Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame) hearing the names of the 2022 inductees, that I get pissed off at the admittance of musical artists that are not rock ‘n roll! I specifically cited Dolly as the first to admit she is “country” to the core. Lo and behold she did! She also stated that she may do a rock ‘n roll song in the future.
I wish some of the other artists, whom are not rock ‘n roll would do the same. The is a Country Music Hall of Fame, that she rightly is honored to be in. I’m tired of this institution trying to be so politically correct by accepting nominees that do not fit into this genre.
Do you think that if there was a HipHop, Rappers Hall of Fame, that The Beatles or The Rolling Stones would be nominated and inducted? I don’t think so, and they shouldn’t be. To be clear, I don’t see this as a race issue, strictly a music issue. I wish that other artists had the guts to turn down nominations on the basis of this is not their form of expression. JayZ, Eminem and others do not belong in The Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame.
