Indoor Plants

I am the first to admit that I’m not great with indoor plants, although I have always had them in my homes. The ones I do have are probably the easiest ones to care for such as Peace Lilies, Pothos, Spider Plants, etc. Right now I have 4 Peace Lilies, which are doing well. I have separated them and started new pots with success. If someone is giving away an indoor plant I’ll take it. If I see something dying in the store, (Gerber Daisy pictured I got for 2 dollars) I’ll try to save it. This plant blooms all year round and I’ve had it for over 5 years! I have 2 orchids. One that was blooming when I bought it and now 3 years later is finally blooming again. There was an orchid in the garden shop they were giving away and I took it. I had Orchid soil and repotted it and it looks good. I have cacti that a friend didn’t want that I repotted and they are doing good. Another Christmas Cactus a friend gave me that I still have probably 9 years later.

I lost the African Violet, it wasn’t the first time

I also have potted plants that go on the deck for the summer and I keep inside throughout the winter. These include Wild Ginger, Curcuma Ginger, a tropical and Hibiscus. These die down to nothing. I bring them in and continue to water over the winter. When I put outside they start new growth and bloom again through the summer. This year they started blooming inside in the middle of May. It’s crazy, like they knew it was time to stop being dormant and said to me, “time to go outside! e. Below the Gingers and Hibiscus, FYI I got the Curcuma Ginger at the end of the season for 5 bucks.
