IPL Laser Treatment – 1st Treatment

I went for my first laser treatment the other day at Richmond Dermatology, their aesthetic center.

As usual, we did a drive buy to see how accessible the office was. There were no steps, and multiple handicapped spaces in the front with ramps. I was immediately put at ease and was looking forward to my appointment. I had plans to go to the movies at 12:55, (West Side Story) so I needed the wheelchair in the car for that and the walker for the dermatology appointment. We had a snowstorm the night before and as I was struggling to get my walker in the car my phone rang and thankfully, (because I hate talking on the phone) I answered it. It was the dermatology office asking if I could come in later at 1:00. I was so grateful for this meant I could stop trying to get the walker in the car.

Anyhow the appointment went well. The office was beautiful and the people very nice. I was taken on time and I liked my esthetician. I had several questions, which she answered knowledgably. I had wanted to get rid of broken capillaries. sun damage, and small wrinkles. The laser she chose, IPL, would address these issues for me, It felt like pin pricks, no big deal. I was to expect redness, maybe some swelling for the next couple of days, and for 2 on my nose, they should harden and scab. I was told I could put ice on my face and nothing with retinol for a few days. I made an appointment for next month to see how it went and for another zap if I needed more.

My face was very red when I left, which wasn’t a problem since we’re all still wearing masks. By dinnertime I wasn’t red at all. I don’t see any difference and my nose is not scabbing up, they look the same. This leads me to believe I’ll need another treatment. Total cost $200.00. This was okay with me as long as I see some results. I was a little worried about how my face would react to the laser. Sometimes, with MS you don’t know how the nerves affected will react and I did not want any adverse effect. Luckily no surprises.

They offer many different procedures; more powerful laser treatments, microdermabrasion, micro-needling, and one I’m particularly interested in, a thread lift. I am definitely not interested in any fillers, which they also offer.
