L’Oreal Colo Rista – grey coverage

We all know that I have been trying for over a year to gracefully let my hair go grey. I have had it stripped and foiled blonde three times until the cost was around 200 dollars, that’s a lot for every 6 weeks, (that’s stretching it). It’s ok now, mostly blonde with about an 1 1/2 inches of grey with dark undertones. I’ve been looking for a temporary color that I can do at home, to see if I like going grey completely. All the over the counter grey colors were permanent or semi-permanent, and I didn’t want that commitment so I saw L’Oreal Colo Rista spray on and decided to try it.

It comes in a small 2 oz can and the directions say to place a towel around your shoulders, which I did, and also made a point of saying “less is more, and you might need more than one can.” What appealed to me that it washes out in one wash. I have thick hair and hoped I wouldn’t need another can. I proceeded to spray, covering top, sides, and to the best of my ability the back of my head. When I was satisfied that I was done, there was still some in the can, so I thought I did pretty good.

How wrong was I!! My hands were silver, my neck and face were also silver. It was everywhere! All over the bathroom counter, floor and sink. I looked like the tinman from “The Wizard of OZ.” I tried wiping it down and I needed my bleach bathroom cleaner. I washed my hands and neck, really scrubbed with soap and water. I waited for it to dry and ran a comb through, which also turned silver along with my hands again! i noticed an odor in the afternoon and I went outside and didn’t go back in the bathroom besides looking in the mirror until I went to bed.

To my great surprise, my face, neck and ears were covered in silver again! After washing, I took a towel and rubbed down my hair trying to remove some of the silver. I did what I could and had to wash my hands again. I went to bed and knew that the silver would be all over my pillows. I could not sleep because the smell was making me nauseas. I didn’t shower because it was now midnight and I had to get up early and be at the garden.

I ended up emailing to say I couldn’t come in because of a stye, which is true, but not the real reason. Upon waking up I was silver again and knew I had to shower and get rid of the silver once and for all. I had to wash my hair several times and now I am back to where I started. Phew!

I realized too late that I should have taken pictures to show this whole process. from start to finish. It was quite humorous and that would have been better conveyed through pictures. I don’t do selfies so it didn’t even enter my mind, although in this instance i should have.
