The election is over, (thank God, the commercials and phone calls were driving me crazy!) My candidate did not win, although it was very close. I’m not that upset because I’ve decided to have a “wait and see” attitude. First and foremost there is nothing I can do about it!
Anyway, for now my mind is open. I feel proud as a registered Independent that I don’t feel the absolute need to vote a particular party. I cannot understand people who vote for a leader, no matter how awful a person is, just to stay true to their party.
The things I do like about Glenn Youngkin is the fact that he is young(er). I’m tired of old white men too. I also like the fact that he had been trying to separate himself from Donald Trump, even though he was endorsed by Trump. As a side note, of course Trump took credit for his election. His focus is on education, which is good, except I don’t want books banned. A lot of Republicans were running on touting no teaching about critical race theory even though it isn’t being taught in Virginia and there were no plans to teach it in Virginia. Another scare tactic used by politicians, (both sides)
One thing I don’t like is that he is filthy rich and does not have such a clean record when it comes to his business practices. He also owns a horse farm and was able (for tax purposes) to be classified as an “agricultural farm.” These millionaires get away with murder. If anyone of you thinks any one of them represents you or and you find you can relate to them, I’M TELLING YOU THEY DON’T!
I will wait and see, hopefully not to be disappointed by his actions. I guess I can count out any gun control laws and that he doesn’t jump on the Republican band wagon of making it harder for people to vote in our state.
